Riga’s best bars!

Latvia's Favourte Bars In 3 Major Cities | Your Guide For 2021

I love You Bar- Permentally Closed

Bit of a strange name, but actually, I love You Bar is one of Riga’s hippest bars. The Bar has a relaxing atmosphere with antique couches and authentic decor that only I love you Bar could pull of! The music is great but has no broad music genre, with DJ sets and live music most nights.  The Bar has a wide selection of drinks such as IPA’s , wine, spirits, and cocktails. Although the atmosphere is fantastic, one negative is staffing levels have impacted service slightly, according to reviews. But still worth a defiantly worth a visit.

I can’t find out the reason why I love You closed, sorry?

Aussie Backpackers Pub

A  relaxed pub, just like Australia, the building has three floors, so it’s not small. You find many ex-pats, tourists, and backpackers who want a drink some Aussie ale and watch rugby. The Bar’s spirit is wholly Australian, so expect drinking activities and native dishes from down under. The Pub operates as a backpackers, which adds to the atmosphere, so you always meet new people from around the globe. The only criticism is they don’t have VB (Victoria Bitter), a staple Aussie beer, but they do have Coopers, which isn’t bad.

This is your place if you like the Latino life with everything from the classic mojito, salsa dancing and Latin music. Defiantly one of the best bars in Riga!

Rock Café

Rock cafe is a great place to chill with friends and have a bit of a dance with various rock music (sometimes live). You also have pub games available like pool and karaoke, which gets extremely busy, especially on the weekend. The atmosphere is friendly, so social interaction is easy here. The location of rock cafe is central to most of the big hotels, so it’s convenient.

Café Leningrad

If you love Soviet history, this Bar is exceptional, with a trip down memory lane for many Latvians. Everything in the Bar is from the Soviet-era- furniture, electrical equipment, Soviet figures, and memorabilia. The demographics usually are a younger crowd with live gigs playing mainly rock music—a great selection of beers and Scottish ales.

Omas Briljants

This Bar’s design is exceptional with unusual furniture, retro lights, and plant pots. A wide range of drinks available from cocktails, Latvian beer, and sharing jugs. Their are plenty of tables and chairs to sit and socialize with a decent-sized dance floor with a second bar. The music has no real genre but has live events.

Skyline Bar- Temporarily closed Til After The Pandemic

If you’re with a partner, this 26th-floor Raddison hotel has the perfect view. You have two variations with Old Town and Art Nouveau district to look over the horizon.

The view is worth paying for, but if you want to save some money on Mondays and Tuesdays, the service charge is not added to the bills.

The cocktails are exceptional, and some of the best in Riga don’t miss out!

Krogs Aptieka– Permentally Closed

This fabulous Bar was brought to life by an American-Latvian (Kristaps Krēsliņš) from Washington who put his name on the DC nightlife scene in the US, Krogs Aptieka would be his last project and he did a great job. The venue is a medieval theme with drinks served in traditional bottles from the medieval Bar. The exterior of the building is conventional Latvian architecture and looks stunning.

Kiwi Bar

If you’re into sports, this is your Bar! Themed as a New Zealand bar, the venue gets packed on Fridays and Saturdays with sports fans. Backpackers and ex-pats are the main customers, so its not so cultural, sadly.

You have many TV’s around the Bar that give excellent views, which is the biggest perk.

Kiwi Bar is the #1 sports bar in Riga.

Daugavpils Best Bars!

Great place to socialize and have a few beers! The Irish Pub is regarded as one of the best venues in Daugavpils.

The entrance fee is €5, but you get live music, pool, casino, and bingo. The Pub also screens live sports.

There are a few criticisms in their food portions with Steaks at €13’s, which is expensive for Latvia, but in western bars like Irish pubs, you always pay a little bit more.

If your after some atmosphere, visit this pub.

Fontaine Palace Club

Fun little Bar with a late drinking license and a friendly atmosphere. Every Friday has live music, usually is rock.

If you’re after a meal its €6-€10 with a beer—Theirs a beer terrace also.

Fontaine Palace Club won’t match Latvia’s best bars, but it’s pretty good for this small city. If you’re after a quick drink, check it out.

Kursas Putni

Quirky venue with all modern equipment with old antique furniture and sewing machines hung up on the wall. You have excellent craft ales but no food, but they have some deserts.

I recommend trying the Rum with coke while your sat outside enjoying the sun. The venue is in a quirky area of the city with other bars close.

Hi, I’m Ian

I started traveling in 2006 when I was 21 and still today it’s the best experience of my life! I grew up in a rural town in England and I couldn’t wait to get away and explore the big wide world.

My first destination in 2006 was Singapour. After I visited Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos the dream continued and every day was a new experience with new foods, temples, lush countryside, and quirky boutique hotels. The variance of my days was tremendous from waking up in Jungles to a tropical island sipping an ice-cold beer 24hrs later.

With all this travel experience I started traveltin to help people who want to take the plunge into travel and seek advice. I really want to help people live their dreams and share knowledge and tips to help you have the best trip possible.

If you need anything just ask! I’ll get straight back to you.
